Muddy Waters Illustration

Pencil Illustration of Muddy Waters.

I watched Cadillac Records (great movie by the way), and got inspired to do an illustration of Muddy Waters. I found a really good photo on the internet, and got to work. For this sketch I decided to use a Sketch and Wash #588 pencil. I used a standard #2 pencil for my previous illustration of a homeless man, so I wanted to see the difference between the two. The sketch and wash was darker and softer, and definitely covered larger areas much quicker. The only drawback was that I had to sharpen it more frequently to maintain a comparable precision to the harder-leaded pencils, but that was no big deal. I’m thinking about starting a series of celebrities with various categories (musicians, singers, actors, etc.).
